Hi, my name is Daxon Greystone Matovich, welcome to my web log!
[[[Before you ask, no, I didn’t make up the name Daxon. It’s derived from the city of Dax in France, home of many rivers and springs, giving the name the meaning “of the water.” Greystone has been my online moniker and middle name for many years. Being named “water stone” brings me a sense of peace, as they are the parts of nature that tend to be most healing to me.]]]
I make stuff (art?), live an urban life, and build found family while dealing with a “best of” list of mental and physical illnesses. Considering the health issues, I manage to live a pretty active life, if punctuated by times of retreat. I’m an early 30’s transmasc bigender guy, he/him.
Everyone who knows me tells me I’m an old soul (or rather “a grumpy old man”), and I’ve found embracing that makes my life work better. It’s not so much that I love old things, it’s that older ways and means make more immediate sense to me. As such, the “old” (in internet years) term “web log” gives me a sort of thrill of understanding and connection. I understand what a “web log” was supposed to be, where it fit into society, individual’s lives, and even the wider internet. This blog is intended to harken back to that original feel – a place to gather a mishmash of ideas, journals, experiences, and reverie amidst the ever-moving channels of the web.
I.e. I don’t expect everyone to care as much about my fermenting adventures as I do, but I care about them as much as my philosophy interests or art making or journey with ptsd, so you can expect to hear about them all in this log.
This somewhat meandering style is what comes naturally to me so expect to find a fair amount of it herein. If the slow and winding isn’t your speed, or you’re begging me to get to the point right now, we probably won’t make for good company with each other on this platform – you might try my twitter where I’m forced to be more to the point. But if sometimes you just want to read and see a soul as honestly presented as I can manage it, I hope you’ll join me in this log of my thoughts, attempts, art, foibles, and growth.
